Remember how I said naps might take a higher priority than this project at times? So that happened. And I do expect naps to continue to dominate for the rest of the summer.
But, despite the naps, I did make a little bit of progress on this project.
Building an Audience
Launched: May 7th
My FB goal for June was to see if I could grow the page organically. I scheduled 4-5 daily posts for this page and then left it alone to do its thing all month. I didn’t boost any posts or run any ads. I ended the month with a net gain of about 400 new followers. I am pleased with this considering that I hardly put any work or money into it this month.
- Continue posting regularly
- Increase USA based audience
Launched: May 16th
My Newsletter goal for June was to create a quality lead magnet and promote the newsletter more aggressively. I did not do that. I completely ignored it! So, I was pleasantly surprised when I went to check my stats at the end of the month to discover that I had gained 10 subscribers. Nice! They all came from clicking the “Sign Up” button on the Facebook page.
I did not send any emails to the list all month. My open rate is still dismal so its hard to get excited about writing a newsletter every week. I figured I’d put my energy into adding emails to the automated sequence that gets sent out to new subscribers. At least this way every new subscriber has the opportunity to see the email rather than it disappearing into my archives.
- Create a high quality lead magnet
- Make a more compelling landing page offering the lead magnet
- Promote the lead magnet regularly on FB
Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) Store
Launched: May 25th
I didn’t do anything new to the TpT store in June or promote it/mention it on the Facebook page. Despite this, however, I picked up a couple of new followers. I now have a grand total of 6 (including me)!
My Own Products
I didn’t create any new products or promote any old products in June.
Product Summary June 2017
- Number of products to date: 1 free, 1 paid
- Earnings: $0
- Reviews on TpT: 3 votes
- Freebie downloads: 42
- Create a series of new products in time for a back-to-school launch (seems a bit optimistic considering that I am loving my naps so much right now…)
I have slowly been exploring affiliate products I might want to market for this project. I promoted the Summer Break Mega Bundle to this new audience in early June and did make one sale from it (woohoo!) I have signed up for a couple of other affiliate programs but have not begun promoting them on the Facebook page or newsletter yet. I’ll have more details once I start promoting.
Affiliate Product Goals
- Sign up for appropriate affiliate programs
- Make a promotion schedule for Facebook
- Add more emails to the automated newsletter sequence and include affiliate links
Expenses June 2017
I have allocated $250 to fund the startup costs for this project. However, these expenses are not required. I have learned that money can buy you speed, but if you are willing to wait, you can do this without the following investments.
Expenses in June: $0
Startup funds remaining: $128.36
Income June 2017
Affiliate product earnings Summer Break Mega Bundle: $9.98
Total Income: $9.98
I can’t complain about this! While it is only one sale, it still means I’ve made a sale every month since I started, hah!
