Learning About Antarctica: An Overview

We began learning about the continent Antarctica this week. Here are some of the new materials we’ve had out on the shelves. I will be posting more in the coming weeks so keep an eye out!

Pictures from Antarctica

Our Geography Continent folder has some great images depicting a variety of scenes from Antarctica. You can find these cards at the Montessori Printshop. Some people like to print these images on photo paper to give them more of an authentic look 🙂

Antarctic Food Web Picture Matching

We use this Antarctic Food Web as a matching activity. It’s not easy getting all the images in the right squares! I had forgotten to add plankton to the web before I printed it out so I glued on some glitter. This printable is available in the free Trillium resource library. A simple but fun song to go with this is Crusty Krill by Mr. I, Gary Q., & the Rainbow Singers.

Physical Features of Antarctica 3-Part Cards

This is my new version of Montessori 3-Part Cards. The control card not only has the image and the word, but also some information in simple text. This printable is available in the free Trillium resource library.
