We wanted to share some pictures from last year’s Thanksgiving Feast. This is the one holiday we always celebrate together as a class. It ties in so well with our study of North America, of plants and food, and is a culmination of so many of the practical life skills we’ve been practicing since the beginning of school.
Getting the Meal Ready
Cutting apples for apple sauce
Making butter by shaking heavy cream in a jar. This takes some serious muscle! (We’ll have to skip this activity for a few years due to severe dairy allergies in the room.)
Here’s our setup for corn-bread baking.
Lots of spooning, pouring, and measuring skills required here! (We’ll need an egg-free recipe for a few years too!)
The colored tape on the measuring cups indicates where to stop.
Expert egg cracking!
Mix it all up!
Getting the Classroom Ready
Arranging tables
Arranging flowers
Some children were inspired to put up some last-minute wall decorations!
Setting the table
Time to Eat!
Serving the food
YUM!
